As a member of the “All American City of Westminster”, the HW Senior apartments have been part of a diverse and proud community for more than 25 years.

In January, many residents of The HW celebrated the annual TET festival, the largest annual celebration that marks the beginning of the Vietnamese Lunar New Year.

The Tết Festival of Southern California is recognized as the world’s largest Tết Festival outside of Vietnam. Visitors were immersed with a vibrant array of traditional foods, live entertainment, festive games, and customs celebrating the New Year.

The festival included a parade that traveled though Westminster, closing a number of streets along the parade route.

Creating a healthy environment and encouraging a health lifestyle has always been an important part of our philosophy at the HW Senior Apartment Community.

As part of our ongoing efforts to provide our residents, and our community, with important health education and information, we will be hosting a special presentation titled, “Vaccination You Should Have,” on Thursday, January 12, 2012 beginning at 6:30 pm.

This preventative health lecture will be held in our 4000 square foot Resident Clubhouse, on the campus of HW Senior Living, located at 13920 Hoover Street, in Westminster.

Dr. Peshimam is a Board Certified Family Practice doctor who has been a practicing physician for more than 20 years. His office is located near the campus of Fountain Valley Regional Hospital, who is a co-host for this event.

Dr. Peshimam’s presentation will include general information on vaccinations, focusing on influenza, pneumonia, pertusis (whooping cough) and shingles vaccines. A questions and answer segment will immediate follow this 30 minute presentation.

The HW Senior Apartment Community recognized it’s 25^th Anniversary with a special ribbon cutting, held in the resident clubhouse, on November 10, 2011. Members of the local Chamber of Commerce, City Elected Officials, and representatives from the County of Orange, congratulated the staff and owners Robert and Carol Zinngrabe, for a quarter-century of providing excellence in senior living.

Guests enjoyed delicious catering and a special cake designed to celebrate this milestone in providing luxury senior living to the community.

A quarter of a century has passed since the Grand Opening of The HW Senior Apartments. To mark the occasion, resident were invited to attend the 25^th Anniversary Luncheon. There they dined together, and shared memories of the wonderful experiences they have had while living at the HW.

New residents and veterans alike, enjoyed food and festivities, reminisced about old times, and new times to come, all within the warm and comfortable setting of the resident clubhouse.

The event culminated with a cake cutting, featuring a beautifully decorated cake adorned with the words, “Happy Anniversary”.

Congratulation, HW Senior Apartments! Here’s to another 25 years!

The City of Westminster will celebrate its heritage with the Annual Founders Day Parade and Festival, Saturday, October 22. The parade begins at 9:30 a.m. and will travel east on Westminster Boulevard between Hoover and Locust streets, passing close to the HW Senior Apartment Homes.

Westminster, home of the HW Senior Apartments, was incorporated as a city in 1957. But its history can be traced back to 1870 when settlers formed the Westminster Temperance Colony.

This year’s Founders’ Day Parade Grand Marshals are the players and coaches from 2011 Little League World Series Champion Ocean View Little League.

Included in the parade and festivities will be The Westminster High School Marching Band and Cheerleading Squad, Westminster Elks, Bethany Christian Academy and the Orange County Fire Authority.

Following the parade, the city will host a food truck mini-fest in Sigler Park from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., located south of Westminster Boulevard between Church and Olive streets.

The annual Hawaiian Luau was held in the beautifully decorated Resident Clubhouse here at the HW Senior Apartments. It was so festive! Colorful flowers were everywhere, and celebrating residents were dressed in Hawaiian attire, while flower leis were given out to everyone in attendance.

Catered was provided by L&L Hawaiian Barbecue, and Island Inspiration provided the entertainment. What a terrific job they all did! They had everyone up and dancing in no time! Our Social Director Catherine even joined some of our residents on the dance floor!

Our gentlemen resident also got into the fun, even though they had to be encouraged! They were all good sports and we all had lots of fun. Oh, and let’s not forget the fire dancer. He was pretty hot!

You may have notice recently that The HW has installed many new video cameras throughout the property. This is part of our new and enhanced safety system.

The HW Senior Community is situated on a 5 acres property, with strolling garden paths, activities areas, a pool & spa, and many other amenities for the benefit of our residents. To help keep everyone safe and sound, this new system will monitor activities in the buildings and common area, 24 hours a day, to ensure the safety of all our residents.

On December 15, 2011, Dish network will become the new TV service for all residents at The HW. Once installation is complete, each apartment home will receive over 120 channels of HD programming on the primary TV for free! Individual upgrades are available at a low monthly cost.

A resident meeting will be scheduled prior to installation to provide necessary information and instructions for the new entertainment system.

There is no cost to our residents for this exciting upgrade to DISH Network. As with basic cable, it will be provided to residents at no charge.
